2010 not only starts with a relaunch of Thomas Bendels’ website and identity, using Bendel Corporate — an uppercase typeface which later became Maison, our grotesk, grid based typeface — we also happily welcome ‘Galerie für Moderne Fotografie’ and ‘Studio Daniel Heer’ to our client list.

Workshop at HfK-Bremen
We just got back from three exciting days of a typography workshop we held at Hfk Bremen. The workshop took place as part of Link, an ongoing series of Lectures and Workshops.

Extra
In collaboration with Maiko Gubler from Studio MongrelNation, we have contributed a page to Extra—an Encyclopedia of Experimental Print Finishing, that shows and explains examples of most important finishing techniques. Published and available at Birkhäuser.

A.D.Deertz (aka ADD)
Currently we are working on the future positioning and rebranding of the fashion label ADD, which will be redefined to A.D.Deertz with the collection of Fall/ Winter 2009/2010 and will be shift from a unisex concept to an all menswear line. Pass by the new shop (Kastanienalle 58) that just opened and become a fan on Facebook for further information on the labels’ activities.

There were Days Like White Pages
Time has passed super fast, though we have been busy. The highlights were the brand new look book spring/summer 2009 for the Berlin based Label ‘ADD’, a pitched but uncomissioned redesign of Online-Mailorder ‘Frontlineshop’ and another look book along with lots of other retail material for the ‘adidas’ cooperation with ‘Porsche Design’ (that have just been handed over for printing and which will be documented as soon as finished).

New Typeface ‘Maison’.
Finaly I am able to show some examples of the Typeface ‘Maison’. A grotesk typeface with an industrial bouquet that offers classic grotesque details combined with constructed shapes that are optimized for text and headlines. Maison will be available in an Italic, Proportional-, and Monospaced
version—each in three weights: Light, Roman and Bold.

Kunsthaus Dresden Programm Booklet
Ok, it already got back from the printers two weeks ago but I’d still love to mention this small programm booklet I recently did for Gallery KhD. It has a folding perforation and blue overprinted lines which you can’t see properly on this small image, so again: more to explore in the projects section very soon. Promise.

Fashiontype Exhibtion in Frankfurt
Today is the opening of ‘Fashiontype’, an exhibition held at Klingspor Museum, a museum for Book Art and Typography in Frankfurt. The show is featuring 123sweaters among many other interesting fashion related typedesign projects. Doors open at 19h.

Breathe deeply & relax
This just printed compendium shows the exceptional audio-visual work of berlin based agency flora&faunavisions. It comes in a silkscreened bag and features a double printed black including a monster glossy finish which assisted the offset reproduction of video coloring. Shortfilm Titels ‘Bus’
I’ve just finished the titel and credit design of Jens Schillmoellers’ new short film project ‘bus’ – all set in Gill Ultra Bold – wich is one of many contributions to a competition initiated by ‘Kulturstiftung des Bundes’ dealing with work in general. The film is been selected to join the Berlinale Film Festival. Congratulations.

MTV Brand Neu Tour Campaign
Brand Neu is a show on MTV Networks, which features newcomers and so far unpublished videos from already established artists. The tour they initiated this year for
the first time along many cities in Germany, includes the bands Madsen and Disco Ensemble. Watch out your city for ads, posters, banners and invites designed by 123buero.

Relaunch Qvest Magazine #23
I got asked to design the relaunch and participate in the production of this berlin based fashion and lifestyle magazine. Unfortunately, due many different people and positions being involved, production was chaotic and the result is not very convincing.
